Just wondering how long peacock semen is viable in the hen? If I wanted to change males how long before I could say the offspring would be "pure" for the second male? I know in ducks and chickens it is 3 weeks, is it the same for peacocks?
Thanks

Irene

Know 3 weeks for sure, as far as being sure when 2nd male will be the father. that would be hard. If hen was not clean out , eggs could be fertile from either male.

First the peahen would have to pen without a male for a month or more. Remember breeding season is only 3 months. I never try changing males untill next breeding season.

I have mine in their breeding pens first of March. My Hens don't start laying untill late April.

That is one reason people get a odd color from a pair..the hen is carry sperm from another male.
