I have an 11 month buff Orpington who recently just started laying again after winter and molting. She has been sitting in the nesting box for most of the day. She gets up and leaves, but comes back to sit, even after she lays her egg. She’s only been laying every other day, but even on days she doesn’t lay an egg she spends a lot of time in the nesting box. She doesn’t puff up like she’s broody and she comes out for treats, eat, drink and to hangout throughout the day too. She also roosts at night. Is she just being a weirdo? I have a motion camera in the coop, this is how I know she is spending so much time inside. I’ve only had chickens for a year, and haven’t experienced a broody hen yet. But she doesn’t seem completely broody, if she is.
