Sense of Direction

It did help mine to have a few older birds and some pullets the same age to help show them the ropes. They will get better. I would try getting a long limb and herding them to a free range area. The concrete apron is probably familiar. Anytime they go back to the concrete, shoo them back to their area with the stick. A long limb worked best for me, so you can reach beside them with it and adjust their direction. They are easily steered with small adjustments. Mine seek cover and dust bathe under the shed from time to time and go out to free range in spurts.

Yes, I have used a stick sometimes but other times I don't really need it as they herd pretty easy around the house and then freak out as soon as they see their coop and fly and run to it. Then the process starts all over again. Mosey up to the garage and hang til I herd them away, maybe 10 times yesterday. It's frustrating, I'm not getting anything else done but hopefully it'll get better. They are crazy but very endearing birds.
