Sent him for feed, and he comes home with chicks!

I was just in our TSC in central PA, not more than one hour ago, and they had chicks that looked just like that. They had them labeled "Amberlinks" They only had a few in the bin that I looked in. The five or six that were left looked mighty rooish to me though. They weren't more than a week or week-and-a-half old and they already had the makings of nice single combs.

Ohh, where in Central PA? I live in Renovo now, but I'm originally from the PV, State College/Bellefonte area.

I'm in Howard myself. The chicks were at the State College TSC.

What about the different colors on the legs? Two have yellow legs, and one has pink legs...

Thanks for all the opinions...but if they are meat birds, I'll have to re-home them. I'm only raising egg layers right now..

I love the dam! I wanted to move there, but wanted to be further away from townish places. I stopped in there, but I wasn't real fascinated with the assortment or the prices. I was looking to see if I could find any pekin ducklings, since I could only reserve two up in Lock Haven. Their broilers were $2 vs $1.55 at Calico Creek.

I understand I'd like to have a little more turf so I could work in some goats and maybe a pig or two, but that might have to wait a couple of years. Howard seems to be getting a little "wilder" though. There are a number of houses in town with coops. I hear at least three different roos in the morning now. Hopefully, I can add to that soon. There are even a couple of goats and sheep pretty much right in the middle of town. It isn't too bad for town. Our place is pretty rural for town with the state park and lake on side and a state forest on the other.

I stopped in just to see. I might want to track down a little roo for the pullets (2 EE, 2 BR and 2 RIR) I picked up from Calico Creek last week. The TSC was pretty much out of everything though. They had 4 or 5 Amberlinks (I would have picked out a roo, but I don't really want white(ish) b/c the eagles and they looked to have pasty butts) and bin full of ducks. I couldn't tell what kind though (don't know ducks very well). They might have been Rouen or something like that, but definitely not Pekin. They had a lot of dark on them.
