I was hoping to gain some info from some of the experienced duck raisers and owners on the site.I have never experienced introducing ducklings or young ducks to adults and I have only dealt with having adults together.I have one adult pekin now and have 2 pekins about 3 weeks old in the brooder now.Im going to have them all in the same pen/house in 4-5 weeks or when theyre grown enough.I have my 2 yr old adult on layer pellets and obviously the ducklings on starter/grower.Im wondering what to do in just a short time when I have them all together.I don't want the babies to have the layer and don't want my adult to have the grower/finisher.What I was planning to do was feed them mainly lettuce, peas, and corn and then as often as possible lock them in the pen and give them the appropriate food so there is no mixing.I was wondering if any of you out there have devised any plans as to keeping their feed in there but making sure they don't swap.I know its probably a tough part of flock management.I would love to hear some ideas and advice please!! Thanks!

This is why I feed an all flock don't have to worry about it, then I put oyster shell out for my layers. Purina makes an all flock it's called Purina Flock Raiser,. I use it from hatch all the way till end of their lives.

Thanks a lot for the response Miss Lydia. So at first I thought when you mentioned flock raiser you were talking about the blocks of feed designed for chickens and ducks but after looking up the info I noticed it was a 25 lb bag similar to most feeds.Looking closely at the label and what you described in your post it seems like an awesome alternative to what ive been using. So for the past 2 years since my adult was a duckling ive been using Dumor feed for all my ducks.I live in NJ and the closest feed and agriculture store is TSC and of course Dumor is their brand. I was wondering if you might have more info on giving my ducks the flock raiser.Do I Have to mix the flock raiser and Dumor feed together? Should I ween my adult off Dumor and start giving her the Flock raiser or can I just simply give the new feed to them on a regular basis? Please leave any helpful comments and experience,Thanks!!!!

i've used flock raiser with oyster shells offered. I just wish that stuff came in pellet form!
TSC carries 50 pound bags.

Thanks for the info.I guess I will finish the bag of layer I have for my adult and finish the starter/grower for my ducklings and then put them both on flock raiser.
