I was just wanting some advice on seperating geese. My two older ganders have started to fight and I'm assuming it is because of the lead up to breeding season down here in Oz. How do I go about sepererating them into mating pairs/trios/quads etc without tonnes of noise?

I'm very noise sensitive - especially when asleep and worried they will keep my up all night, they are already waking me up several times a night with their fighting.

Any advice much appreciated.

Have you attempted separating your breeding pens where they can't see each other. Like in multiple pens in different areas. And if your pens are right beside each other, plywood works great to provide a barrier so they can't see each other. We have the ultimate setup for our two different breeds! We flock breed, but the Pilgrim flock has 6 males and the Roman flock has 2 males, but they are on two different places. My InLaws keep the Pilgrims at their farm and we keep the Romans at ours. The Romans fight a little bit at the very beginning of the breeding season, but I just this past Spring brought in a totally unrelated yearling gander, put him directly into the pen with the rest of the flock and there were some squabbles for a while but afterwards he settled in just fine. They still make noise from time to time, but they are fairly quiet most nights. About the only time we actually hear them at night is when the neighbors let their dogs out to relieve themselves and if its a full moon, they will make noise if our Golden Retriever is barking as she sees shadows from cars passing.
The solid partitions work for lots of things, mean roosters, fighting horses, fighting dogs, geese... :)

unfortunately it is difficult to put them where they can't see each other - although that is the intention - I may have to do the opposite and put them right next to each other where they can see each other. I've got one lot on one side of the house at the moment and the other lot on the other side - they just spent all last night calling to each other. I'm currently annoyed tired and frustrated (roast goose sounds good right now!) - and I'm just waiting for my neighbours to call me this morning (and they will)
