I am not new to hatching but new to Seramas. From the research that I have done it is understood that Seramas hatch sooner and mature faster than other breeds. For that fact alone I was planning on hatching my Seramas first, followed by eggs from my bigger breed ladies (I have a mixed flock).

Was wondering if anyone has hatched Serama eggs with bigger breed eggs in the same incubator? My worry is that if that is done, the bigger chicks will pick on the Serama chicks in the brooder. Not to mention if I did the Seramas first, they would basically be "full grown" by the time the other eggs are ready to go outside.

Thoughts, advice, opinions on this?

I do not hatch chicks,, but the person from whom I got my Seramas does. She does not do both large, and bantams in same incubation cycle.
The Seramas are tiny lil things:love when they hatch. I would do the Serama hatch first,, and then the regular chicks,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,If you will be keeping in same brooder to grow out. OH,,,,,,,,,,,and do bake them some treats:drool:drool:drool

WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and:welcome

Thank you.

I've hatched them together without issues but you could always stagger the hatch by a few days to give the Seramas a head start to get their land legs before putting the large breeds in with them. That way you can still raise them together. I feel introducing them later is much harder for integration than doing it from the start.

Thought about that too. Luckily I have an accepting flock. Yet, I think what will make my decision is when they start laying again. Thank you for sharing.

I have hatched Serama and standard eggs together. The hatching inside the incubator is not an issue for me. By the end of week 1 in the brooder, the size difference can become concerning. I have had times they were fine together and other times I separated them into separate brooding bins.

I have been hatching Serama eggs for 5 years. Setting the incubator at 99.6 F, 90% of my eggs pip on day 19-20 and hatch by day 22. On occasion I do have an early hatcher, day 19. Early hatching has not been an issue for me however reading articles on the internet state otherwise. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info! I ended up doing a separate run with the Serama eggs. The few rounds of eggs I have done, majority hatch day 19/20, then the rest day 21.

Here is the second chick. Like the first one, I'm pretty confident on the gender. This one has to be a rooster! Besides having a bigger and redder comb and wattle, the demeanor is very rooster like. I'll be asking for name suggestions soon.

Last but not least, not sure on this one. I'm on the fence. Any thoughts?
