One of the first shipped eggs I ever hatched resulted in a set of five Serama babies.
Two of them were pullets and of those two, one little girl began laying at the age of 15 weeks. I was astounded, to have such a young layer.
She laid a total of 7 eggs and hasn't laid another since! At first I thought she might be hiding the eggs in order to go broody.
It has been about 3 weeks since I have found any of her eggs, plenty of time to fill a nest, but she is still hanging out with the others and shows no inkling of having hidden a nest.
She began laying her eggs in the bigger hens laying boxes. Then, she'd lay by the hay feeder while free ranging.
Has anyone had a layer start up and then take a vacation? LOL
