LOL Cindiloohoo...I feel bad now for my knee jerk reaction to that letter today. I guess I should thank my lucky stars I don't owe them $5000 right now, or we'd be out of a house in a few months. But, now to find a way to pay $10 less than what we can't afford...this should be interesting, but where there's a will, there's a way. We both need to believe that, right?

I got my property evaluation today,, it went UP! Because they ran a sewer line by me that I had to pay a ton of money in fees to hook up to, that I haven't hooked up to because since I had to pay the fees I can't afford to hire someone to do the line,, and decommission my septic tank and fill it in,,, they raised my property value..... I give up

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm getting a good laugh out of some of the ridiculousness that is happening seems like EVERYWHERE over this housing fumble! It's nuts! Oh, and don't feel bad...I went off for a second on the messenger of news of our decision. It's just so stupid. I hope everyone else is in a decent position to sell. I plan on selling in the next 3 months and buying a piece of land. Preparing is going to be the hard part though. I have SO MUCH STUFF, and I aint moving it all!!!!!!!!!!

Its sad that the 10.00$ drop in payments due to the refi just dropped your credit score by 100 points or more.
there is a glitch in the Modification process that drops credit scores by 100 + depending on how modified you were.

I know...but you know, we ruined our credit over this house already...so what's 100 more points in the hole?

It seems everyone's property taxes went up this year. I have a fixed rate mortgage and with my escrow our payment went up almost $200 a month last month because of our taxes. I had to call India (HSBC) to ask them what they expected us to do...we're already $5000 behind and can't pay our current payment, and you want me to pay you $200 more?!?

So technically, it's $10 less than what my origional payment was. So if you're a glass half full person, I guess it's saving me $210 a month! Hubby said it feels like someone gave us five grand today, although we have to pay it back on the end of the loan...when we are OLD!

Our propery taxes finally will be going down this year! They were way too high last year. And we just got the assesment and the taxable value is down $10000.00 and the equalized is down 11000.00. So we shall see what summer taxes are -- but they should be less. We now pay our propery taxes outright -- no escrow account. We had it in escrow at our old place and hated it! It was the catch up game when taxes went up that I hated so much. I hated it when my monthly payments went up because taxes did and therefore the mortgage company had to play the catch up game. Paying our taxes outright really works for us. We just get it over and done with, although it does take planning. I've heard that taxes are behind the housing trend. So maybe yours will eventually go down. I hope so for all of you! Not fair when the taxes are too high and you couldn't sell the house for what the assessment says it's worth!
