Pfft, hubby thought being a stay-at-home parent was full of glory, until he was laid off, lol. Then he was like "yeah, now I understand why you complained all the time". Pfft, put being pregnant on top of that, buddy. Gotta love when you've got a foot shoving your stomach contents up your throat, and you have to bend over and do something for the toddler (which just makes the little guy's "job" of torture that much easier). Besides, when hubby gets hurt, he never shuts up about it, if he gets sick, he acts like he's dying. I couldn't imagine dealing with a pregnant husband. I'd have to lock him in a closet, lol.

As for the quail, as of last night, I have four quail cages. One's a brooder for the 8 chicks that are left (*sigh* that makes 8 that passed away), two are housing single whites (to check gender) and one has the cinnamon/ivory pair. I still haven't gotten any eggs, and I haven't even heard any male calls, just the normal contact calls between the whites. They seem none-too impressed about the seperation. I might put them back together and try again in a week.
The eggs in the incubator, if any of them make it, are halfway there (due on the 24th).
I also have curly eggies on the way this week (thank you so much BQH), and I just put the order in for the 1588 (I have plenty of room in the LG, and the temps are perfect in case if I have to use it for the curly eggs temporarily). I'm also going to be getting eggs from Shelley, coturnix AND buttons!

Wish me luck.

I use to breed (or tried to breed) bettas.. They bred, and I would have babies but I could never keep the babies alive past 2 weeks.. Good luck with your fish..

Edited to add..
It is still winter time.. The hours are shorter.. So it may be taking the bird longer to mature to lay eggs.. Mine only lay about 2-3 eggs a week.. Try placing them where they get more natural light.. That may help..

Right now they're all in the living room (gets the most sunlight per day), but would moving them to the bathroom and using the growlights work?
Bettas are such a PITA, they ate all of the eggs, probably because they were infertile because it's like two 90 year olds in there, lol. Did you use freshly hatched brine shrimp to feed your fry? I once tried a diet of microworms and decapsulated BBS, and I got a whopping one fry to survive, and, wouldn't you know it, it was an x-factor, deformed gal who matured at about half size.

I just now candled the button eggs. Pulled 10 definate clears out, and there are 5 that I'm unsure of. Two of the unsures are quite possibly developing, three, I just couldn't see in period, so I don't have high hopes for them. Out of 35, I'm going to say that 20 should be ok to hatch, which is pretty good for me, and a LOT better than I was expecting. I was expecting maybe 10 of them to pass the candling test tonight, so I'm feeling pretty good right now.

Still waiting on the young adults to do something. I REALLY want to know what the heck my whites are, and I'm praying and praying that I have a pair. I keep seperating them to see if I get any calls, but don't hear anything other than the loud pews.
Maybe I'll get some whites from the eggies that are in the bator now.
The eight chickies are doing well, though I think they're much more skittish than my first group of five, which sucks, because my whites weren't even that bad, and as adults, they're a total pain, I can't pick them up or anything.

And, tonight, I found out just how fragile button eggs are. Thankfully, it was a clear egg, but still, it's scary just how delicate they are. The coturnix eggs seemed to be much more sturdy (and a total pain in the butt to crack to be honest). Maybe button eggs are the best for pickling/peeling?
