Still hatching?!

I packed up my incubator two weeks ago and put it into the garden shed.

Then my husband put a lock on the shed door.

Then he hid the key to the lock.

I walk past that shed every day.

There's an axe in the toolshed next to it.

I can see myself, in the middle of the night clothed in my pajamas, hacking away at the lock with the axe.

WHEN does it end???

I signed up for the New Year's Hatch and I am swearing to myself that I won't hatch anymore until then. But the laundry room is empty. My four bantam cochin chicks are doing just fine in their rabbit cage. Plywood is on sale and I was wanting to make a nice new brooder box. 31 chicks have moved into the front porch brooder, and it is feeling pretty lonely.

I told my husband a couple of months ago, If I hatch eggs, I can sell the chicks I don't want and keep the rest. HAHAHA.

The first batch, i got two RIR out of 7. The second, that just ended a couple of days ago, nothing. When I opened the box, I just knew the post office tried to make scrambled eggs. Now I'm on my third, a birthday present to my self, 12 Buckeye eggs! I can't wait for the next hatch. I think this addiction just gets worse, and there's not much support in the way of reform on this site, which I'm completely loving

I think if my husband could move my incubator by himself I would be in the same boat! Of course his little wheeled moving dolly DID manage to disappear in the garage

I moved my incubator into a locked shipping container and now (two weeks later) still trying not to go get it. Someone should start a thread for us egg a holics maybe call it hatchers anonymous.

I don't have an incubator anymore... I have broodies! I have one on 12 chicks that just hatched, one on 9 BSL Orp and 2 EE eggs and one that keeps jumping nest boxes. I want to get something special for her to sit on... If I can get her to stop moving around!

I like that idea about the axe, BUT you need to get the incubator without harming the shed so when he comes home one day he won't supect anything and you should have the incubator in plain sight to where he can see it.
