As our second day with the turkeys, I've built them a perch and set them up with a nesting area inside a dog igloo with straw. So far, they've not flown out of the area, which is actually shared with the Pygmy goats. It's a large pen for all of them.
After monitoring how the turkeys would behave inside this area...the hen has been pervhed on what I built for quite a while...while the tom has been busy exploring the pen area. He's not flown on top of the perch yet after nerarly 4 hours now.
At night, we plan on putting them away inside the chicken coop. That's where they spent the night for their first stay with us. We do have varmints such as red foxes, coons and possums. None of the varmints have ever come after our goats and we've had them for nearly a year now.
Here's footage of what we have so far. Oh, and can someone tell me which breed of turkeys these are?
