I have 2 male red golden pheasnts going on their 2nd year. They are starting to color out beautifully.

Questions:
1. I was told that as long as there are no females to fight over, 2 males will get along just fine. I've had them both for about 9 months and they have gotten along very well, with only a few dominance shows and small tiffs. Are they ok together?

2. One of them has started making an interesting screech early in the morning and evening. Is this a mating call?

3. One of them herds and hisses at the other on occasion while he splays his tail feathers sideways and puffs out his growing head feathers. What does this mean?

Thanks you for your help!

1. Yah they should be fine. I have 3 male together and they do fine.
2.yup. thats the mating call. the pretty much only do it in the breeding season.
3. he is displaying, they do it to female to impress them. if one is more dominant than you might want to keep and eye on them. The might try to grab hold of the head feathers like they do to a female.
Hope that helps!
