I've had the very occasional shell-less egg show up since my 3 girls started laying in November, never really worried about it, figured they were just getting going and were working the bugs out of their system. In the past 5 days I've found 3 shell-less eggs in their coop, all of them under the roosting bar in the morning as if they excreted them while they were sleeping, one with a very thin shell membrane, I'm not sure which girl is doing it.

Otherwise they are very healthy, happy chickens, free range during the day, organic layer feed, oyster shell free choice, BOSS and other chicken suitable treats.

The only change has been they very recently discovered the creek that runs on the side of our property and have been spending a lot of their time in it, foraging in the mud, etc. The creek itself, though, is very healthy and comes from a deep underground spring also on our property.

Any thoughts chicken gurus?

If they just started laying in November they are still very young layers. Mine stopped after 4 months of laying, but every once in a great while I will get on, but now it is in a nest box.

It does happen once in a while. Just make sure to keep oyster shells in their pens. After I found one beginning to lay these I made sure their was plenty of oyster shells available to ensure it wasn't a calcium deficiency problem.
