So we had one of our 16 wk pullets die, necropsy found severe cocci infection. We have had no symptoms, they are all vibrant and good weight. She had pale spleen and liver with red cecum and bloody contents.
We have been told treat with 0.024%.
We have 9.6% liquid amprolium but we also have a feed that is 0.025%
Which do you think is better?

Thank you

Medicated feed will not treat an outbreak, so us the 9.6% liquid. Mix it 2 tsp per gallon of water, and give to all chickens as their only water source for 5-7 days. You do not have to stop the medicated feed while you are treating, since the amount of amprollium in feed is so small. Here are a couple of articles about coccidiosis for you to read:

okay so that's why I was confused as the dosage recommended for severe cases is 0.025% and that's what my medicated feed says it is. be a calculation I am missing here.
so for the liquid the water needs to be mixed every single day correct.
thank you so much for the help I'm hoping I can get them through this.

Aahhh, that makes sense, thank you. Is it a benefit to feed the medicated food too or overkill?

Thank you

Yes, mix fresh every day.
