Sevin spray for feather lice?

My flock has lice. I don't have Sevin dust, but I do have the liquid. Can I spray everyone down? If not, what's the most efficient way to dust them? I have 60 birds, so I don't really want to catch each individually if I can help it.

I don't think it's a good idea to spray them but you can spray the coop. I got the powder and placed it in an area where they like to dust bathe. I used sand, ash, DE and sevin all mixed together.

I don't think you can use the liquid on animals. My flock of 15 just went through this. What I would up doing is treating everyone with puppy Front-line, a drop under each wing and by the vent too on the worst two girls. Then I sprinkled them with a generous dusting of Sevin and made sure to work it in around the back, tail and belly. I just redusted them today and no lice. In fact, they appeared to be gone by 8pm the same day I treated them at 8am. We checked three birds and didn't see a thing. I couldn't say for sure which did the trick but everything I read said that if you already had a decent infestation going on that Sevin would be useless. For you, it would be impractical and extremely expensive to do Front-line. Having already treated, I found out I could buy bulk Ivermectin pour on for much cheaper per ounce. No matter what you choose you are going to have to treat each individual bird. Doing Ivermectin will save you having to re-treat as in the case of the Sevin dust and is a good one for all treatment. Don't forget that you will have to throw out all bedding and clean the coop really well. If you have Sevin dust on hand, I powder dusted everything in my chicken's coop and the nesting bedding as well. Good luck!

Sevin dust is actually DE + carbaryl mixed together in the container. Take that into consideration as you do your mix.
