I had RIR when I was little and the Roo's were mean. I love my RSL (no roo's though) and the lay lay lay and are very friendly and funny,
Good luck in your choice.
My RSL hens lay the biggest darn eggs I've ever seen!
The eggs only fit in a jumbo size egg box. My RIRs lay a nice size egg almost daily but are a bit smaller. IMO, both are great choices. I couldn't decide between the two so I got some of each
edited to add that both are friendly, curious and sociable, almost nosy
I have no experience with RI's, but my sex links (11 laying at the moment) give me an egg almost everyday, odd days I get 8 or 9 but most of the time I get 11.
Their eggs usually weigh about 2 ounces, I know this because a few days ago I got this gigantic egg, which made me decide to weight it, it was 4 ounces, literall;y twice the size of the normal. They are also a nice shade of brown.

This is kinda what I was thinking. Get a few R.I.Reds a few RSL and a few BSL and see what I like the best? Trying to do a little egg selling project with my 10 year old son so I want the best for our buyers (customers, gotta keepem happy).
That's when I got smart and decieded to ask my dear friends on BYC because you'll always give me such GREAT advice. Thank you SO much!
