Sex linked EEs?

Yes, the hens in both cases have the barring gene, which is sexlinked, and since the roosters they are being bred to do not have barring, their chicks will be sexable at hatch by presence or absence of a barring head spot. Males inherit barring from their mothers, while females do not, so male chicks will have the spot and female chicks won't.
