Hi all, long time reader of the site first time posting so hopefully I’m doing it all right.
Some background:
I had one of my hens (not the biological mother) hatch 6 chicks on January 6 2023 so they are just about 4 months old. They are Australorp cross unknown.
I don’t have great photos of all 6 at this point but have included I think 5 of them. I currently think I have 4 Roos and 2 pullets but as this is my first time raising chicks I’m not certain. I think 1st pic is a pullet, 2 not sure, 3 I was thinking pullet but it has suddenly grown that funny tail feather and know not sure, 4 light grey roo, pic 5 is that same pullet(?) and the other for sure roo (I think haha). I have another all black which I suspect is a roo also due to its long drapery tail and what look to be saddle feathers (this is the one not pictured). Thanks in advance all!

1 pullet

2 cockerel

3 pullet

4 two cockerels

5 blue pullet to the left, blue cockerel to the right, black pullet behind him, black cockerel in the far background.
Cool this is promising *fingers crossed*. In the 5th pic you said one black one is a pullet (the only one I don’t have a clear photo of) is the one that has a long drapey tail and maybe hackle/saddle feathers. It’s a bit hard to tell as He/she is the smallest/runt(?) and is currently being kept seperate (1st day) as it appears a little under the weather (working on it) and is getting a bit beat up by my speckled Sussex hens, it’s has a bit of a limp and I don’t want it to get worse *face palm*. However here is a photo of it right at bedtime

From that picture I'm thinking it is a late developing cockerel, which makes sense if it is a runt. I see some shiny feathers at the shoulders that are suspicious. Sorry.

All good mate! I had a feeling that was the case anyway so no problem. Thanks for the replies!

It took me a lot longer than it should have to see the 2nd foot. 🤦‍♀️

When you said “under the weather” and (I initially missed the Sussex part) a “limp”my first thought was, “of course, he’s hopping around on one leg”

😂😂😂😂😂
