Is there a way to tell the sex of a gosling before they lay eggs? I have 5 goslings all together - two store bought that are a few weeks old and the 3 I recently hatched out ( June 3rd and 4th). Is there any way of telling male or female, and I mean without fingering the goose to see if I can feel something poking back. I read that online, I have no intention of fingering my goslings.

Also are there any treats you can give to a goose / gosling? Other than grass/ weeds and starter feed - or corn in the case of my adult Toulouse Goose.

Really good treats are romaine lettuce and peas, various fruits, like watermelon, pears, etc. go easy on the corn, it´s quite fattening. Mine get it twice a day, but only a very small amount.
As regards the sex, some breeds are easy to tell at hatch (Pilgrims, Embdens, etc) as the babies are different colours, but a lot of them you just have to wait and see by their behaviour, stance, etc. Can´t remember what yours are.

I think one of the two I got from the store is going to be a Toulouse and the other a Buff - but they're sold as "an assortment" So those are total guesses. The other three that I hatched are a mix between a Toulouse and an Embden.

Toulouse and Buff don´t have anything particularly to help you discern the sex, you´ll have to watch them as they grow. With true Embdens, the little males are lighter in colour than the females, but as yours are a mix, then it doesn´t work the same.

Post pictures and when serv comes on he might be able to tell you the sexes. He is great at being able to tell sexes!!!
But you have to post pictures to find out...

I'll take individual pictures of them tomorrow. But for now here is a group.

The goslings just might be a little bit too young yet for even serv to sex them now. But take pictures anyway close up so he can see them well...
