well since i just found out that one of the bar rocks i got from the feed store is a cross dresser, i really need to figure out what this one is... it was here with the house when we moved in and one of the two that got me started in chickens. i havent got an egg yet from it but since i have no idea of the age or history that may not be a viable option for me for sexing. all i know is ive only heard it "crow" once (and was just rather loud noise no real classic crowing sound). ive been told that it a a wellsummer cross, and definatly not a hatchery bird. but if you think otherwise ill take breed awnsers too. thanks

It does look like it has Welsummer hen feathering. It probably will pop out an egg any day. Check it's pubic bones if you can fit three fingers in between its close to laying and a hen. Roosters pubic bones are close together. There are no sickle feathers on it or saddle feathers to say its Rooster.

see ive been told that because the legs are yellow, that they havent been "bleached" from laying, also, ive had her cooped for almost 3 weeks with fresh water 16% layer feed and oyster shell, theyve been getting scratch and yogurt every afternoon. ive been getting an egg a day from the white one you see, but so far nothing else from the wel. also how exactly would i go about "checking the pubic bone"?

Just below the vent feel with your fingers. You will feel two bones ( with space between them) hold your fingers together If you can fit 3 of your fingers in the space then she should be ready to lay if only 2 fingers she may still be too young.
