i dont know how to tell if my new chick is a boy or girl and is there any method that works on every chick

no not at 5 days old they are too young

Some breeds can be feather sexed on the day of hatch. Some breeds can be sexed by color on the day of hatch.
The rest you have to wait until they are at least 4 to 6 weeks old - when the secondary sex characteristics start showing up - to sex.
