I need some help sexing my chicks. I got 6 chicks who are now a little over 5 weeks old. I’ll list their breeds here: GLW, SLW, EE, australorp, midnight majesty maran, and a sapphire gem. I am mostly concerned about my SLW, EE, and sapphire gem. All of them are friendly and I’ve never seen them bump chests and puff out their neck feathers like I've seen many roosters do. They sometimes do jump at each other while perching but it’s hard to tell if it’s purposeful. Sadly, if any are roosters I will have to return them. I’ll post some pictures and descriptions below, thanks in advance.

GLW: I have no reason to believe she is rooster yet

Midnight Majesty Maran:

Australorp: I have no reason to believe she is a rooster yet

EE: She was the first to grow feathers but now has the least feathering of all of my other ones. Some of her wing feathers are also slightly pointed and the feathers that she does have are very long. She recently started growing reddish brown feathers on her chest and now looks like it on her wings as well. That all seems very rooster-like but she doesn’t have any comb growth and it seems that only recently she has gotten towards the top of the pecking order..

SLW: She looks hen like because she is round and relatively small. I think she is very pretty and her pattern is mostly consistent. She is getting a small comb and wattle now, which is my main concern. Some of my other chicks are getting this as well but her comb is probably the biggest. It doesn’t seem super red yet. It is growing very slowly though. I know that wyandottes are hard to sex and I’ve heard that they grow combs and wattles very fast and early (not sure how true that is).

Sapphire Gem: She is very friendly, round and fully feathered. She does have super thick legs and feet and is probably the biggest out of everybody. She is starting to get a little comb and wattle but nothing red yet. I think she is the top of the pecking order. Sapphire Gem roosters will be barred and although it’s not a lot, she does almost have some barred pattern on the end of her wing and tail feathers.

If you have any information about this or guesses on the gender it would be very appreciated.

(im so sorry if any of the images are messed up, this is my first time posting and I don't really know what I'm doing)

I would also like to mention that I’m really not sure that the australorp and midnight majesty maran are those breeds. We have had a mistaken, black breed with the place we get them from and these chicks looked very similar when they were young. If you know anything about these breeds, feedback is appreciated :)

I believe sapphire gems are sex linked, with male chicks having a white spot on the head.

Whoops, hit send too soon.

I think the red look like pullets, but it’s hard to tell with the EE, that one may need more time.

Wyandottes are incredibly hard to sex until it eather crows or lays an egg. I have 10, 7 week old slw and there all supposed to be pullets but I wont know for a while.

I was told that my bird is a SLW but was labeled something else. She’s almost 9 weeks and you can compare the comb if you want ... acts like a hen for sure-

yes i think sapphire gems are sex linked and she never had a white spot on her head. I think we get them from Hoovers hatchery and I heard they can mess up on that, but I'm am getting more faith that she is a hen. Do you mean the red on the EE?
