Do do people here feel they can fairly accurately determine the gender of their new chicks? Does anyone practice dousing like some people do with pigeons?

chick gender is easy on some breeds as the feather pattern is determined by sex

I have no idea what dousing is

The best known dowsing is using a y stick to find water or water witching but there are other methods and it works for anything not just water. I've seen pigeon fanciers use pendulums to determine the sex of birds. Here is a site with a really nice and simple explanation

According to this site even Albert Einstein believed dowsing worked. But anyway you use one of the methods to get a reaction from your tools or body it's pretty cool. I first learned about it at a farm seminar and I've worked with several methods including pendulums my preferred method, body, and rods ( don't work well for me because I have pins and rods in one leg so only one rod reacts well). I haven't tried determining sex of chicks before but I have used it with rabbits to determine number of kits in a litter before they are born I can palpate of feel the kits but never count them and I have to say my results have been impressive out of 5 litters it was off by one on 2 litters.
