Hello everyone! I know these aren’t chickens but a lot of people raise ducks as well so I figured I’d ask anyways. I have Ducklings inside and they are 12 days old. I’m wondering when the best age is to put them outside? and I would love to see your duck setups and pens! And how early on can I introduce fruits and veggies? And I’ve heard you can sex ducklings. I was wondering how I can tell if they’re boys or girls? Thank you in advance <3

You can introduce new foods early, but keep it small. You can vent sex and some time color sex certain types of ducklings but I usually wait till the ducks are about 6-8 weeks of age to guess, usually using voice as the main indicator, females quacks males don’t.The loud ones who start quacking early are females, and the males make raspy sounds.

I planned on adding a bit more (maybe) but honestly ducks need little. This is majority of the run some of it’s missing out a small portion of run and on the end is the coop they go in at night, it’s also covered so nothing can get in.I have two kitty pools and two logs, planned on maybe adding an extra.I also have a feeder that just randomly is in there,I never organize duck runs. The coop has nothing in it, but hay.I planned on adding a nest for when they start laying but for now nothings in there.I also planned on mulching the run.

Your ducks pen looks amazing! I was thinking about making a pen out of pallets. Do you think that might work? Two of the ducklings are already super loud never stop talking! I wanted to give them watermelon the other day but I wasn’t sure how young so thank you! And I was unaware that ducklings needed grit! Is it bad they haven’t had any yet? I’m planning to get some tho!
