I am planning to get new chicks soon but I do not want any rooters for I have too many already. What is the best way to determine sexes of your chicks.

There is no sure way to sex them unless they are sex linked or bred for feather sexing. I watch manerisms in young chicks I hatch to get an idea of how many roo/hens I have. That's not accurate either though bc hens will act rooish, and roos will act henish sometimes. Ya juat can't ever tell for sure until they get combs and wattles or start to lay eggs. Hint: if it lays eggs it's likely not a roo

In all seriousness, sex-linked chicks from a hatchery is a good start. My avatar was supposed to be a Jersey Giant hen and Jerry Garcia is a big and beautifal rooster. Sex-linked lay big brown eggs and mine are sweet and favorites.
