I hoped I would never have to make an 'is this a boy or girl' post, but here I am. I recently purchased this extra fluffy unsexed 3-4 month old silkie that just has me completely stumped. It is more show quality than my other silkies which may be why it's harder for me to tell. When I look back at the pictures I took, it looks like a hen. But it looks like it has those smooth streamer feathers growing in on the neck. It is also larger than what I am used to for it's age. No crowing has been observed and no eggs yet.

So what are your opinions?

Very pretty! I tried rubber bands on one as an experiment but somehow she got it off. Now I just use a kitchen scissors and go around the eyes a couple of times a year. If hubby helps, he gets his cordless razor out and they love that!

That said, I'm pretty sure that's a cockerel. The walnut comb starting, the hackle feathers starting, and its stance. Gorgeous though!

Unfortunately, I think it looks like a boy too. Thanks for your suggestion! All the silkies are actually getting a brow trim this weekend!
