Hello,

I recently picked up a little Easter Egger labeled as a pullet. According the the wing (covert feather) method I could possibly have a make. This chick also has a pea comb that looks like it has three rows. He/she is only a few days old. What do you think?
Please excuse my walnut-stained fingers 🤦‍♀️

My EE chick had a comb like yours, she turned out to be a she! And the wing sexing “trick” isn’t true to most chicks, you have to breed a slow feathering male to a fast feathering female(I think).

Okay. I wasn’t sure about the feathers. I know EE are a mixed breed so they might have different rules. I’m not sure how the hatchery sexed them. I’m guessing vent. On which breeds does the feather sexing work?
