Hello all,

Can anyone help me figure out if this SF is a rooster or pullet? The photos are actually a few weeks outdated now, but maybe it'll still be obvious enough.

Thanks!

Sure looks like it's heading towards rooster. I'm assuming it's the first one, for some reason I can't figure out what SF is.

Okay, those you can sex by color as well, the darker ones are males, that's why I didn't recognize it, I have a hen.

I have heard that sexing by color is the usual method for the SF. I have also heard that a few hatcheries have been selling very strangely colored SF lately (dark hens, etc). Are there any other obvious rooster attributes other than color?

Well not sure how old they are but roosters will get a red comb pretty early, hens tend to stay orange for about three to five months before they start to redden up, I also think I see the start of saddle feathers and hackle feathers, plus most roosters feather slower than hens, he seems to be still growing his tail feathers.

I will post some new photos tomorrow. I just randomly came across these photos and figured I'd get the conversation started.

With the black patches on it, your Salmon Faverolles is definitely a cockerel. SF pullets lack the black patches of the cockerels.
