Ok..I have 3 (sex links & white crested black polish) that are about 8 weeks old that go from the garage crate to the coop in the morning and then back in at night. I have 3 (gamefowl) that are 3 1/2 weeks old that have been staying inside in a smaller crate.

Can I move the 3 inside to the garage and move them back inside when I bring the others in a night. They all same to be healthy ~ can 'sharing' their poo, etc hurt them at this early stage in their lives?

Thanks!!!!!

There are several different strains of protazoa that can cause cocci. Once it is in the flock, every chicken will eventually be exposed to that strain. They need to build up an immunity to it. Getting immunity to one strain will not give immunity against other strains, so you have to be on the lookout for cocci all their lives. Songbirds can spread it.

To keep it simple, I think it is a good thing for them to be exposed to the cooci protazoa while they are in the brooder. You can observe them better, catch it earlier, and treat if necessary then. Once they are out, you might not catch it in time. And they build up an immunity easier when they are young.

This is my opinion. Others might disagree.
