I kept rabbits in my coop before letting them out to free-range..I never close the doors to the chickens because I feel like providing a safe environment is more than locking a cage. it's been about 6 months and now my oldest bunny has taken to climbing the steps we put in for the little chickens and sniffing around her old coop! I keep trying to get a video..but she's such a fast climber! ..

At first my RIR hens would peck the rabbit between the eyes when she'd come up to the water bowl the ladies had "claimed" for themselves.. my younger chickens have never known life without the rabbits so they don't see her as anything strange... we have two cats, a black lab, standard poodle, pitbull.. rabbits.. and a pig that all gets along fine. it's funny because the cats bring me dead squirrels and rodents all the time but have yet to touch a chick or one of our rabbits. (Marco our 1 1/2 year old tom nurses the standard poodle EVERY DAY even though the poodle was fixed at 7 months old and was never even in heat! he use to also nurse the pig..my other cat is his mother, it took 10 months to wean him enough to get her fixed..he frequently sleeps on the eggs in the RIRs nesting box.. he moves when they say so no conflict there)
