Who else here is shave happy with their animals?
I have a lot of animals, and help with my parent's animals as well. I do not have time to keep the all perfectly brushed, especially the long furred ones. I do brush them mind you.
I just realized that I am pretty shave happy. Some I shave completely, leaving only a thin layer of fur to protect their skin, others i shave their rears and underbelly to hep them keep cool, or lessen the hitch hikers, mats, and mud hey accumulate when hanging out with me in the pasture all day.
My shaving jobs are terrible. They always end up looking like the were in a fight with a lawnmower, with bits of fur sticking up in patches.
I don't care and neither do the animals. My Australian shepherd is the worst. it doesn't matter that i brush him every day, by the end of the day, his fur always has sticks, briar's, mud, and other unsavory hings in it from being out with me all day.
He does not do well in the Alabama heat and he often leaves my side to soak in the stream, turning that matted belly into cement of mud and fur.
I have taken to shaving his underside and butt. Since he runs around with his tail up, he is rather funny looking as a big fluffy dog with a bald rear.
He also acts like i am trying to kill him when I shave him back there. I keep telling him I haven't shaved off anything vital yet, but I don't think he believes me.
The rest of his coat i keep well brushed, but it was a loosing battle with his underside.
My mom's Persians get the worst of it. They're elderly, unable to groom themselves any more, and my mother is too sick to keep up with their brushing. when they see me open the box containing the grooming supplies, they run and hide.
I don't even bother giving that that cute lion's cut. It all comes off, save for their face. Now shaving a squirming cat is not easy, so the poor cats always end up with disheveled uneven patches.
By the end of my shavings sprees, I'm exhausted, covered in hair, and scratches, and I have a bunch of balded, ticked off animals that gather together to plot my untimely demise.
