My Silkie Hen UhOh Hatched her eggs! (well, 4 of them!)

And she's 2 days early! We have her up in my bedroom, and me and my husband were up all night long! AHHHH! Child birth! She seems to be mothering them well, maybe too well? LOL, they want out from beneath her wings to see us (probably all the hysterical giggling they hear!), and she won't let them. Well, she knows best!

So far, 3 are austrolorps, and I believe the other is a Isa Brown. I got these eggs from a friend, so that explains why they are not silkies, like Ma.

Oh, Wow! 2 to go!

Now I undersatnd y'all's excitement about motherhood! I feel like I layed the eggs and brooded and hatched them myself!
Way to go, UhOh!

An excited(can ya tell?) new chick mama,

That is the coolest thing, watching a broody hen do her thing the way nature intended! Aren't you glad you're fortunate to be able to experience this? Congrats!

Just checked again, all hatched but 1 so far...problem tho! Last one was pooped on, and I'm talking tennis ball sized! The egg was cold, but had been pipped. I listened, nothing. So I took a chance and washed off the poop in warm water, listened again...peeping!

So I stuck it back under my new mama! I don't cross fingers, but I will pray! This is all new to me , so I hop eI did it right!

Will post pics soon!

Good for you I have 13 new babies too. I have helped 2 hatch and they look good so far. I just peeled back the piped spot to get a good hole going. I am pretty sure those 2 were not positioned in the egg right. But this is my first time hatching in a bator.

Congratulations. We are also experiencing our first hatch right now. We should have a few more chicks in a few days. That is too cool.
