She is going to lay?

Black sex link 20 weeks Friday. She is FREAKING OUT! Very vocal pacing back to forth to the coop and checking out EVERY nesting box and trying to get comfortable. It's 90 degrees out today. Is she hot and just trying to cool down or is she about to lay an egg?

That sounds like she is going to lay an egg to me! That's what my girls do when they are waiting for the favorite nesting area to be available.

My hens lay at week 24, but it might lay!

We have 5 hens and she is the only one doing this or shown any interest in the nesting boxes. And the weird thing is all her friends have fully developed combs and wattles and she is the only one who doesn't have very much of one.

She still has five weeks, so that's probably why. Hens are fully developed at week 24.

Eeeeek! I added more shaving to the box and she dug a bigger hole. She stood up and started the egg song!
