Has this ever happened to you?! Last two days I did not get my usual 3 red star eggs. That was concerning as they lay every single day. Today, I decided to investigate, and when I got close, I noticed that one of my girls had dirt and sticks and bark and leaves sticking out all over her! I picked her up, and in her feathers, all underneath, it was a crazy mess. The leaf/dirt/stick debris was stuck, tangled, seriously matted in there. I could not shake, rub, pull it out. It has been wet here, so I can only surmise that she chose to take a dirt(mud) bath out in her large run area instead of under the coop, which is dry and free of debris. I am guessing it is her that is not laying...anyhow...she seems fine otherwise-real chipper. I bathed her, and blowed her feathers dry, and she is nice and clean now, and there was no sign of anything being off-her skin looks great, etc. BUT...what the HECK?! Has one of your hens ever done such a thing?
