Would this work a large bail of
shavings in my Coop top it up now & again put Damascus earth down or
horse stall refresher & change every 1-2 month ( I am not after deep litter meathod )
Cheers Phil

All depends on the size of the coop, ventilation, bird density, climate etc... Need more info.

We started with 2 bags of pine shavings in our 8x9 coop. We have 4 bags in it now. You will want 6" or more total but you can start with less and build up as you go.

6x8 coop 12, 3 inch circular vents
near roof 8 chickens not after (deep littre method) clean out every 2 month
cheers Phil

Start with one bale...sprinkle some stall freshener or PDZ(zeolite)....skip the DE(diatomaceous earth).
See how it goes, add more shavings as needed, keep it stirred up or maybe throw some scratch down for chickens to mix it up.

I only have 1-3" of shavings and change out once a year...BUT...I use a poop board and sift poops out every other day.

Only time and observation will tell what works best for your situation.
