What is the difference between oyster shell and poultry grit? I have both. I know the shell is for calcium and for the eggs shell but not sure what the grit is for or does.

Yes, the shell provides extra calcium for hens that are laying eggs.
The grit is for all chicks/chickens that are eating anything other than chicken feed.
The grit is stored inside the chicken's gizzard and grinds up any food they eat since chickens do not have teeth.
If the chicken is only eating chicken feed, they do not need added grit.
When chickens roam around outside, the normally ingest small rocks and pebbles (and other hard items).
