Seems one of my hatched chicks pecked at the shell of this one and left some yolk exposed. I'm worried that this one is hurt, it's been slow to hatch.

Are you sure the chick is alive? Do you see any blood from the shell membrane?

It still has unabsorbed yolk it is not ready to hatch and you don't want it to hatch at this point. It has a pip through the membrane so it can breath. What it needs is to be given time to absorb that yolk and finish hatching. If it were to hatch right now, chances are that yolk would get ruptured before it had time to absorb and that usually carries a death sentence for the chick. At this point the only thing that I would do is wrap a wet paper towel around the egg leaving the pip exposed and leave it in the bator to do it's job.

Thank you, I really appreciate your help. These eggs were a gift from a colleague. I don't even know what breed they are. But it's sure been fun!

I'm so happy. She's out of her shelll, dry, and with her partners in crime. The egg yolk was fully absorbed.
