Shell with large deposit--dangerous to hen?

One of my five hens is laying eggs with what look like calcium deposits on them. Usually they are little bumps, but today I got this one:

Is this likely to be hurting the hen internally? What causes it?

not sure what causes it, but i can say i've never seen a wart that large!!

if there was no blood on it, i would say most of that damage was the pain of laying that baby

Excess calcium deposits. I'm pretty sure that's what that huge thing is..

If so, it will not hurt her. (:
