My 10 yo hen was distressed this morning. Albumen under her. Examined her and she had a piece of the membrane dried and stuck to vent and feathers. Gently pulled it and it snapped so I got my gloves and reached barely in to retrieve the rest if the membrane. There was some drip of yolk on it but didn’t come out. I know for certain no yolk was passed. It was not eaten by others. It’s inside her. She is on the nest right now. It’s clearly loose/busted inside her oviduct. In all the shell less eggs I’ve helped pass I’ve never had a yolk retain. Not sure how to address this.

I'd give her 300mg Calcium Citrate+D3 now, then once daily for a week to hopefully help her expel any more membrane and any other egg that is on the way.

Since she retained yolk, that can be a medium for bacterial growth. If she were mine, I'd start her on an antibiotic. Amoxicillin is a good choice.
