Shells for chickens

We want to give them some calcium rich shells. Can we give them ground up clam shells instead of oyster shells?

I've fed our birds both oyster shell and crushed up clam shells before but now I just save their egg shells, and when I get enough of them collected up I heat them in the oven (low heat) for about 20 to 30 minutes. Let them cool and then crush them up good and feed them back to the birds.
