We need to build a shelter for our two embden geese. They will have to be locked up at night for predator protection. Would 5' x 5' be big enough? Should the windows be low enough for them to see out of? How tall should it be?

We were using a 4' x 4' playhouse as a coop for our three Sebastopols, until we recently built a bigger one. They seemed fine in there. We only built a larger one as we added some babies. So now our five 6-week-olds are in the 4' x 4' coop (which is way too small for them) and the adults are in an 8' x 8' house. i am hoping that larger house will be big enough for all of them when the kids grow up.

Anyhow, my personal opinion is that a 5' x 5' coop should be big enough for two adult geese. You want to make it tall enough for you to get in and clean easily. As for windows, i find my geese like to look out windows at night, but if they see something in the yard, they get frightened and honk. Late night vocalizing can be hard on the neighbors (or spouse), so windows up higher might be best.
