My boldest girl, Dora the Explorer, has started squatting when I pet her!! That means she's getting close to laying, right? The other two don't squat in the same way (with wings semi-extended) yet.

Yep - that's the old 'I'm ready for the rooster' squat.

If I remember correctly it was within 2 weeks or so after the first squatting that we got the first eggs

Won't be TOO long now!!

I am getting squatting and humongous poops in the nest box too

I'm getting squatting and she scratches til the coop floor is bare in a big circle??? she just started laying again after not doing so for about 2 months. We lost my entire flock to the fox in spring and she quit laying, she was depressed in the coop by herself, so when my peeps got to be about 4-6 weeks old, i brought her in by them, and just recently put them all back out in the run. I came out just last Saturday and there were 8 eggs in her nest!!! she's the only one laying...I think she getting rid of more than 1 a day!! and my roo started crowing so maybe she thinks she's going to get lucky soon!! LOL
