I need to vent...I received some eggs in the mail this morning that I had purchased around the 2nd week of June. When the mail carrier brought them she commented that there was an unusual smell coming from the box. I quickly opened them to see one egg that had broken and run down into the box. I'm thinking that this must be the origin of the smell, since it has been so hot. Wrong!
I purchased 12+ eggs- 14 sent. I took the eggs out and candled them. 6 were rotten! and I do mean rotten!! Completely black inside and the smell will knock you down!
They were mailed on Thursday and arrived today, so there is no way they spoiled during shipping. It was a deliberate act. How mean! I cannot believe that someone would actually try to pull such a trick. I realize that there are inherent risks with shipped eggs. I have had poor hatches from shipped eggs and excellent hatches on occasion, but this takes the cake!
Has anyone else ever had rotten eggs sent to them?
