I recieved this email in response to my ad for fertile hatching duck eggs on Craigslist....
Would you have any duck egg available for eating? My kids love them better than the chicken eggs. Could you mail then to me? I live in Buford GA zip code 30519. If so, Im looking to buy 2 dozen eggs. Please tell me how much money including the freight.
I want to respond the correct legal way so my response was going to be
i only ship flat rate boxes and for two cartons of eggs i would charge you 12.00 plus the 16.00 for the eggs for a total of 28.00. I prefer cash or check in the mail as I do not have a paypal account.
you understand I only sell hatching eggs ( that come from the same nest and birds as our eating eggs). At this time I am not able to sell eating eggs due to liscensing . I would be happy to ship you two cartons of fertile hatching eggs and you may chose to hatch them or not.
that said- my eggs are fresh and i only ship hatching eggs out within four days of laying them. I do not wash them off because this removes the bacteria protecting barrier that is naturally on the egg, which could affect the bacteria levels IN the egg affecting hatching.
I want to make sure that I'm doing everything legally. She lives less than 5 hours away so in theory the 1 day in transit wont affect the eggs. can i just insist that they are HATCHING eggs and sell them to her? I'm wary that its a trap for some reason.
