Shipping older chick's or bird's?

I was wondering if anyone has done this before? I have someone who want's my 4 month old Splash Australorp cockerel, but to get it to her, I would have to ship it. I have never done this before. How would I go about doing it?
First check the rules of where you are wanting to ship it to. If it is in a different state from you, you will have to have the proper inspections and paperwork (NPIP, Veterinarian Certificate of Health) in order to legally ship it. If it is in your own state, you still need to make sure that it will be able to get to its destination within one day. You cannot ship it with water so must provide it with some type of fruit such as an apple to be able to get it to survive the shipment.

No, it will be here in my state, about a 4 hour drive one way from me. She is unable to find someone to drive her to come and get it herself, plus she has seizures or something so she cannot drive here by herself.
My recommendation is to try to find someone going her direction to deliver the chicken for you. In Wyoming we often have people that post on craigslist stating where they are going to and offering to deliver animals (for a fee). There is or at least was a group here on BYC that would post when they were traveling a certain highway in Colorado to make deliveries along the way.

You may want to try posting in your state thread in the Where am I? Where are you! forum to see if someone would be willing to assist in making the delivery.
