Shipping quail?

I have two questions on this topic:

First, if you were to go about shipping day old chicks, how would you do it? Chick shipping boxes (check), but how many to a box?

And, if you got the adult shipping boxes to ship adults, how would you do that? Thanks!

Go to the bst "other poultry" section--- theres a sticky post at the top that covers all info for shipping live birds via usps regulations and laws.

Shipping day old quail sux. I know lots of hatcheries do it, but the losses on these lil guys is apalling. Unfortunately they just dont have the shelf life day old baby chickens do... quail require food and water at a much sooner rate, shipping prevents this. And they are way more cold sensitive and huddle prone because of it. If you had the option and really really want to ship I recommend doing it with adolescents-- 4 to 6 wks old range--- they tolerate the journey much better at this age.

often times you can get better deals there than buying from a large commercial supplier (often times they will sell small numbers on there when their sales are down..)
