Hi All! I recently received a bit of a scolding from someone. I planned to ship 3-4 week old chicks and they advised it shouldn't be done. I do understand that shipping day olds is preferable. But, I also know that adult birds are shipped. Do any of you ship young started birds?? Do any of you NOT ship young started birds and why??

I have done this twice now and in both cases they arrived fine. The first batch is still doing fine after a month. The second batch just arrived today, and they were almost a day late. Won't know for a few days if there are dehydration issues, but will keep in touch with buyer to see.

I would love all your opinions.

Terri.

We try to wait until they are 8 weeks old to ship the started chicks....they are older and can go longer without eating and they also have more feathers. You can have a good outcome shipping that young, but your luck will run out.
