Shipping to VA???

I was wondering what the deal is about shipping poultry to Virginia? Is it illegal? Can tests be done to ship to VA? Need my answer in "simple" form please.

I had our 5 chicks shipped to the Chantilly, VA post office (close to my husband's place of work) from Meyer Hatchery last July. No problems; the folks at the post office were quiet delighted and called us as soon as they arrived so that we could pick them up right away. To my knowledge, so long as the birds are shipped from a NPIP certified hatchery/breeder/equivalent, you're good to go.
