It seems that USPS has changed their shipping methods that have been working for decades. They have contracted FEDEX to ship our eggs and birds. I wanted to share with all of you all egg/bird shippers and receiver's some misfortune I have encountered the past few weeks now that temperatures are rising. I've lost personally 7 birds upon receiving and have had reports of my eggs that I ship the same way always to be glossy and oozing. My egg replacement and birds are totaling about $2,100 in losses either by me or the recipients in a 3 week time frame. We have approached USPS from all angles and they refer us to USPS complaint.com that has not done anything at all. Sent pictures yadayada they will accept no responsibility for the mishandling of eggs or birds. It's my understanding the all go to a hub here in the southeast to TN and await their transfer possibly a day or so (IN SOME HOT HANGER OR ON A TRUCK IN THE SUN?) If anyone has a contact that we can get some action from I would appreciate it. I know other people are getting bad eggs and low/no hatch rate and are receiving dead birds because of this new procedure. PLEASE SHARE WITH ALL SHIPPERS AND RECEIVER'S OF HATCHING EGGS AND LIVE BIRDS THAT USPS ACCEPTS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR ACTIONS. THERE SHOULD BE FEDERAL LAWS REGULATING THEIR PROCEDURES AND BE MONITORED IF THEY ARE GOING TO SHIP LIVE BIRDS OR HATCHING EGGS.
